Special note about American Golf
My hat is off to American Golf, they have some wonderful properties. They are broken down in two different distinctions, Golf Courses and Country Clubs. Golf Courses are simply public golf courses with a modest club house. The club houses look like they were built around the same era at most of their locations. They are nice. I have had a number of people tell me in confidence that they are concerned about how such and such golf course looks and maybe it's not good enough for their wedding. In reality it isn't about the venue, it's about the couple. We've been in some of the nicest hotels in California and some of the most modest golf course in California. The bottom line is that once everybody is in the room, the difference between the venues aren't as great as you may think.
Brookside is a golf course, not a country club, for now. You never know if they will rebuild the clubhouse and make this place a country club. If they do, the view won't change, but you can be certain that it will cost more per headcount to host a wedding at this place.

It's a nice, straightforward golf course near the Rose Bowl in
Pasadena. This is an upscale part of Pasadena.
This venue is nice, clean, and simple. Sooner or later it's
destined to be torn down and the clubhouse rebuilt.
Photographic Potential
The grounds are nice, there is also a nice gazebo right outside the main banquet room. It looks like it can be used for an outdoor ceremony. It's great for portraits.
Possible Distractions/ Work Around
The worst thing I can say about this place is that parking is very difficult. The staff seemed nice, the food was good. It's a good all around property.

Overall Evaluation
This place very nice. It's not super fancy, and thus if your needs are to have an over the top upscale wedding at a high end hotel, you won't be happy here. If you are looking for a nice venue to host your wedding, this place isn't bad. It's a golf course, it's not a country club. If you want to go one step up from here, check out the country clubs at www.Americangolf.com . Otherwise, you can have a great wedding here, all it takes is a little imagination and some good preparation.
