The city of Garden Grove is in an interesting location, known as the gateway to Disneyland it's in a busy area. If you think about what it has close by, such as The Crystal Cathedral and numerous other churches, this location is centrally located. Since it's a rental hall, you can bring in your own catering. This is important for a couple of reasons. First, this can help you save money on the most expensive aspect of your wedding day, the cost of your reception. Second, it's ideal for weddings such as traditional Mexican weddings where the guest list can fluctuate significantly.
The facility is huge, and thus it can house very large wedding receptions. All that being said, it's a very okay place a wedding reception. It's ideally suited for larger weddings.
On the inside, the room is a tad bit plain, but does photograph nicely. The outside has lakes and bridges and trees and thus it's a nice place for taking portraits and group shots. There are some nice areas to work with and with it has the potential to photograph well. There are some huge pitfalls as well with this location and the average photographer will fall into them and have these factors work against them (see below).
The outside of this facility is popular with photographers, so on a Saturday afternoon you will find other weddings, and Quincineras fighting it out for space. With the push away from allowing wedding photography at beach and parks locations like this one are even more popular as time goes on. Chances are you can find yourself out of luck for the prime locations since this park rather small. Even worse, there are cars going down the street that can interfere with the backgrounds.
If you are expecting a Ritz Carlton wedding unfortunately you're on the wrong side of town! That being said, if you are working with factors such as large amounts of guest and small budgets, this place is worth a closer look. A low budget wedding photographer will not be able to make this place shine and most likely will provide exceptionally forgettable work from this location. It's one of those things, you can cut corners only so far before it comes back to bite you!
