Catholic Wedding Photography

 

A good portion of Lifetime Images clients are Catholic. Why?   It's because our approach to wedding photography closely matches the value of the Catholic church.   First of all, we put a huge emphasis on family.   If we give our catholic bridal couples 300 words to describe themselves you can be certain that the word "family" is going to pop up somewhere.  It's far more than lip service, its a part of their identity.  Thus, wedding photography cannot be considered good or complete if the family isn't well represented.

Catholic churches are perhaps the single most misunderstood church a wedding photographer comes across.  They aren't oppressive, nor are they mean spirited. Catholic churches have a formal structure, and like a lot of religions it has rituals and customs.  Interestingly enough the customs are slightly different between Mexican and Filipino weddings.   In our first few years of business we felt that the Catholic churches rules were up for negotiation  We felt that our photography, our art, and our need to be free to express it were far more important that the stipulations and rigid rules of certain catholic churches we entered.  No we see we couldn't be more wrong.  Even to people who are moderately catholic who skip out on church on most Sundays the role of the catholic church is still important in their lives.   Aside from religion to many the church plays a certain role in their cultural idenity.   To some degree it can almost be perceived as a community center.  Many of our bridal couples participated in activities with the church and CYO.    Thus, any violations in church policy can have deep running implications long after the wedding day is over.  Therefore, we take the catholic church much more seriously and pay special attention to the rules.   Though the years we've discovered how do our job in observance of the churches rules.  We can do a fabulous job and still be respectful of the church.
